The Heart of Maryland Chorus has been entertaining audiences in the Baltimore County and Howard County areas for over fifty years. We sing four part harmony in the barbershop style as a chorus and in quartets. The chorus sings a wide variety of music, from patriotic songs at Fort McHenry to Christmas carols at Baltimore's Harborplace. We have something for audiences of all ages.

A Look Back At 2011

What does a year with the Heart of Maryland Chorus look like? The year kicked off with our traditional Phillips Inner Harbor gathering on New Years Day and Singing Valentine deliveries in February.  We also snuck in an Irish Night Quartet party where we were "discovered" by WBAL!

Spring brought us the Lasagna and Barbershop show, singing with the Sons of the Severn at their NCEON benefit show, singing with the Hometowne USA Chorus and Ladies Heart of Maryland Chorus at their annual show in Rockville, Flag Day at Fort McHenry, and Division contest, where we qualified for District.

There were plenty of performances in the summer, including two free concerts for Catonsville at the Lurman Theatre and Westview Park, plus our debut performance at Baltimore Artscape.

With the end of summer came the dual challenge of District Contest and a new venue for our Soundtracks show with Frank the Dog quartet. We also managed to find the time to sing the National Anthem for the Orioles at Camden Yards.

Cold weather (not so much this year) took us to Tuba Christmas at the Inner Harbor, Midnight Madness in Ellicott City, the KoC party, and the Christmas in Maryland Radio show on WBAL. We finished out the year with our own party with our families.

We hosted three Guest Nights in January, May, and August. Last year we also revived the Holiday Chorus, which brought new singers to several of our performances, including the awesome two-for-one shows at Augsburg home.

The results? We sang over 20 performances and grew the membership by 7 new men along the way! The calendar is already starting to fill up and it looks like 2012 will be another fantastic year!
